We got home with Brandon and Colin around 2:30pm today. That was after stopping twice to make sure they were okay :) We were worried their little heads were slumping forward too much and might interfere with their breathing, but they were fine. One of us would have rode in the backseat between the boys had there been enough room and the car seat bases weren't so wide, but that was not the case (and it had nothing to do with our rear ends being too large, nope...;). The discharge went very smooth and I was so happy to be taking the boys home that I was able to keep it together and not get all weepy :) Luckily Dee was working today and she was kind enough to escort us down to our car and say goodbye to us and the boys. Have I mentioned lately that we just love her? We'll certainly miss Dee and the other nurses, but not the NICU :) So far we've kept Colin and Brandon pretty much on a 3 hour schedule and they have been eating good, between 45 and 60 ml. We have an appointment at the pediatrician tomorrow at 3:15pm. Bill has also assembled a bouncy seat, cradle swing, and rocker thingy today. They both seem to really like the cradle swing too. Good thing too since that sucker was $106!
BTW it was a rather comical sight when we decided to get the boys out of their carriers (after we ate lunch). Bill, my mom, and myself had the hardest time trying to figure out how to loosen the shoulder straps to get the boys out of the carriers. Thank goodness they weren't screaming bloody murder at the time or we would have really been in a panic! After several tense moments though we were able to extract the boys from their carriers. Those things should come with owners manuals! Oh wait, they did, we just haven't read them yet and couldn't find the manual earlier :)
Well my window of opportunity is slowly closing, so I should wrap this post up before the boys wake up and this post doesn't get made until tomorrow. Below are a few pictures taken today before we left the hospital. They boys were wearing their "sweet pea" outfits :)
