Beach bound!

We are leaving in the morning to take the boys on their first beach trip to Bethany Beach, DE. It is 400 miles one way so we will be driving part of the way and then staying at a hotel in northern Virginia Friday night, then driving the remaining 3 hours on Saturday. We will be there a full week and are looking forward to it! Well mostly. I am under no illusions that this will be a totally relaxing vacation. We are taking two 14 month olds afterall! :) And the van is all packed up and about to burst with pack-n-plays, booster seats, double stroller, child carriers, backpacks of clothes, rubbermaid bins of clothes, baby snacks, toys, etc. I wonder if there will be some day laborers in the area that we can pay to unload the van when we get there :) Two weeks ago we rented a house at Claytor Lake with Bryce and Becky and their kids. My thinking was that since it was only 45 minutes away we would have more time to relax and hang out on the lake. I couldn't have been more wrong. Ya see even though it's only 45 minutes away, we still have to pack up a ton of baby crap! Then unpack it, get settled in, and little more than 24 hours later we were packing it all up again. In fact we only spent TWO hours on the lake, thanks to my coworker who was kind enough to pick us up in her pontoon boat and take us for a nice ride with the boys. Below are some pictures from that weekend. Bill was holding Colin and I was holding Brandon. And even though it was about 95 degrees that day (ugg) the boys took a good nap on us. The hum of the motor, the gentle up and down motion, and the breeze just zonked them right out!

Last weekend we had a belated birthday lunch at our house for dad. He's gotten like really old and is 61 now! ;-) Colin is still too chicken to walk without holding on to something, but while zooming around on his walk-n-ride toy he is fearless! I'm sure he'll be officially walking by the time we get back from the beach. Below are some pictures taken last weekend.

I'm sorry that we'll miss the annual family gathering at Camp Tuk-a-way next week! But we'll definitely be at the Epperly family reunion on Labor Day.

Wish us luck on our first big road trip!! :)
